It has long been a standing joke with John and I that if I ever got any abdominal pain I would ask him “What side is the appendix on again?” I would usually be clutching at my left side at the time (never could hold on to the information, somehow….), so his normal response was “The other side!!”
No more! You remember I said I was bored in my last post? Now I feel like an expurgated book: my appendix has been cut out 😱
I had an emergency laparoscopic appendicectomy on Thursday night, and now I’m feeling very sore, very achy, and very chagrined that when I DID actually have something wrong with my appendix, I didn’t realise 😕😏😉😅
I’m not bored any more, though. So remember kids, be careful what you wish for! 😄😢😤
P.S. it’s also painful to laugh, and I daren’t even THINK about having a dump!!
I am one of those people who have to be busy. I don’t like just sitting and doing nothing.
So what do I do when I’m up before everyone else in the house? There’s loads of housework to be done, but if I start doing it now I’ll disturb the rest of the household… and believe me, that’s not a good thing to do here!
Honestly, it’s like living with the little guys from Snow White sometimes. The worst thing is there’s only two of them, but they manage to have the traits of all seven between them.
Perhaps I need to channel a bit of the Snow White vibe myself… now, if I could only learn to talk to bluebirds, etc…
Makes (1) 9×13 inch baking dish
3/4 cup butter, melted
2 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (opened)
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butterscotch chips
1 1/3 cups shredded coconut
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Grease a 9 x 13 pan with a little butter.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
Pour the butter over the graham crumbs in a mixing bowl and stir with a wooden spoon to combine.
Press into prepared baking pan. Set aside.
Heat a small pot filled with water, place an opened can of condensed milk in heated water.
Once condensed milk has become runny pour over graham crackers. Put chocolate chip and butterscotch chips on top of condensed milk. Lastly put shredded coconut on top.
Place into the preheated oven and bake for 20 – 25 minutes, or until bars have set and coconut is slightly browned.
Cool completely before cutting and serving.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Had to go to London on Thursday (Guys Hospital), so had my trusty other half with me. Take a bow, John.
Now, bear in mind he was actually born in London, guess who was the mad fool taking photographs every five paces? On London Bridge. In the freezing cold. Yep, that’s correct. ‘Lambeth John’ Cooper. Tourist much?!
I seriously thought I was going to get frostbite out there! It was not pleasant, folks.
I normally love London, but not on a bitterly cold January morning. We’ll maybe try it again when the weather picks up, if we can scrape together the money for two train fares – £43.40 for two tickets from Harlow, for Pete’s sake!! Okay, rant over 😉🚅
